So What is Autism?
Autism is a developmental disability that has experienced a dramatic increase in the United States. Autism is referred to as a spectrum disorder because of the wide range of characteristics and effects it can have on the people affected by the disability. Autism occurs in roughly 4.5 out of 10,000 live births. Individuals diagnosed with this disorder have significant communication problems.

Autism puts up a wall between the individual affected and the world around him or her. It is often difficult for them to clearly express their emotions, wants and needs. In order for autistic individuals to be understood and cared for it is imperative that adequate provider care agencies are available. Because of the remarkable increase in the diagnosis of autism it can only be expected and humanitarian required that more agencies begin to cater to the particular needs of individuals with autism.
